Caorunn {pronounced ‘ka-roon’} is from the Gaelic word for ‘Rowan Berry’. The humble rowan berry is one of five unique Celtic botanicals at the heart of Caorunn gin. Using Scotland’s natural pantry they hand-forage the rowan berry along with four other Celtic botanicals; all of which can be found within a ten-minute walk of the distillery. These are then paired with six traditional gin botanicals, to create Caorunn’s genius recipe. Although, the genius doesn’t stop there. Caorunn is the only gin in the world to be distilled in a working Copper Berry Chamber, created in the US, back in the 1920s. The sole purpose of the chamber was to extract essential oils as a base to create perfumes, and so Caorunn use it to extract maximum flavor from the botanicals. That’s not just ingenious, that’s Gin Genius. Apple is core to Caorunn as the Coul Blush Apple is a key botanical in the unique distillation process. The best way to showcase Caorunn is to enjoy it at its award-winning best – pair it with a slice of red apple and serve with chilled tonic water over ice.
Tasting Notes:
Fresh, floral, citrus, slightly spicy and aroma with a clean, crisp, sweet, full bodied flavor. The long finish is invigorating, refreshing, and slightly drying.
